It helps the company to get all of the votes counted prior to the meeting. Most companies keep the fiction alive of "counting" votes presented in person by shareholders at the annual meeting, but the reality is that those votes are usually not included in the totals reported at the meeting (unless the vote total is very close.)

For the e.Digital proxy, nothing is controversial, so all votes will be tallied before the meeting begins.
