kathy, thx for the travel spot tips. Booked tix just a few hrs ago and now will be flying in and out of the same place - SF. Been doing too much lately, took the simpler route (was intending to go in to SF, out of LA).
Solvang -- the town of olives! Only town I know priding itself on variety of olives.
Harmony - cool place - rem to add "+1" to the population sign post when visiting - have a photo from a visit there a few years back. And if you include wine tasting, you may see that population grow quite a bit larger.
Visit is including a vc (venture cap in this case vs. video conf) co, one start up co, and hopefully, fvcx and to see another person I've spoken to on the phone and by e-mail when the person was at another company.
Yes, there will be much relaxation - especially after the presentation on Monday (have a few more nights work left to do on it - was on the laptop -arggh).
Wine country is a must. Hiking would be great. Restaurants in SF area? Where else within few hrs drive worthwhile? Will be going to Sunnyvale and Mountain View - only been through there once and I wasn't driving, so wasn't paying much attention. Any "special events" going on in the surrounding area next week or weekend? Tony Bennett's to be in town, I hear. A pumpkin festival or something in Half Moon Bay (squash the shorts). Monterrey, might just do that for the town - the underwater life in the Caribb is unbelievable and uncomparable, imo.
Way I approach visiting places is to ask , what's N,S,E,W, etc , throw down a bunch of ideas, then do some / all of them.
Any help appreciated. Tim, if you read this, LA is somewhat unlikely at this stage as I'm tied up 'til mid week on one item, then Thurs/Fri is when I'm doing the biz visits (all in the SF area, unfortunately). Only shot might be wknd of 23/24, but a gal I know takes priority. |
