This is bullshit accounting

>>ALEXANDRIA, VA (Oct. 12, 1999) -- After the market closed, Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) announced third quarter results. Revenue rose 8.9% from last year to $7.33 billion, while earnings per share (EPS) before one-time charges rose 22% to $0.55. As happened in the second quarter reported in July, Intel's EPS fell short of consensus estimates by two cents<<

intc earned 42 cent after substracting charges..that is the bottom line...they are trying to says revenues rose 9%..2% of that was from the acquisitions....so they try to make it 55 cents (without counting costs) but have the revenue include the acquisition revenue (2%) they didn't count the cost for...

in effect they never count the cost but do count the revenue and future profits from the acquisition....anyone can make earnings "look good" to the causal observer with this setup
