Del, here you are getting into a difficult area because you are dealing with the entire stadium. My answer is, it depends.
First, you have to remember that America was founded as a Christian nation. Just as Israel was founded as a Jewish nation. As an example, let's take a look at what was in the minds of the Pilgrims as they landed in the New World. Just prior to disembarking their ships on November 11, 1620. "The Mayflower Compact".
"In the name of God, Amen, We whose names are underwritten, the loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, etc. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony"....
It is difficult to interpret that document as anything other than a Christian statement of purpose.
And let's not forget George Washington's closing words to the nation in his famous farewell address. "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports...Who that is a sincere friend to it can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?"
Still wonderful words after all these years.
But to give your example credence. Let's say there was a town (and maybe there is but I don't know of one) similar to Chinatown. Where most of the inhabitants were Muslims. I wouldn't have any problem at all if the majority of the people there wanted to say a prayer to Allah. There may be a little friction from the minority. But to me that is much better than the friction generated from the State imposing its will on every town in America. I say, get the federal government out of the backs and pockets of every state and town.
Some people feel the need for an omnipotent federal government to exert its will on every state and town in America. I say, trust the people and let them work these issues out in local ways.
Gee, welcome to America, our signs aren't written in Turkish either because the majority speak English, so deal with it.
