This rumored takeover by BellSouth is pure BS. I can't believe for a second that QWST would be so politically inept as to bid for US West without first approaching BLS in talks. BLS would look inconsistent if they were to now make a bid for QWST after the failed FON bid. The excuses for BLS not bidding on QWST are doublespeak when looking at their statements surrounding their FON bid. I will speculate that something went VERY wrong in the talks/relationship between BLS and QWST, inciting QWST to search for a more progressive LEC (that of course being USWEST).
