Mike,

You are welcome.

By the way, from time to time I also copy my Netscape address book to my Zip disk. There is a filed named "abook.nab" along with another one named "pab.na2" that together appear to constitute my address book. These babies were previously hard to find but I now notice that they are contained within the set of folders starting with "users" along with it's sub-folders.

I recently downloaded the latest executable Netscape Communicator file version 4.7 with 128 bit encryption (18 + Mb) and it appears they have placed all the files I regularly back up in one place now...the "users" folder along with it's sub-folders. This is great, no more hunting around for these very important unique files that I created.

After two hard drive crashes within 3 years....believe me, I don't fool around, and frequently backup EVERYTHING important to me that I can't "reconstruct" by simply re-installing software such as Netscape.

TWO OTHER EXAMPLES OF "THINGS" I SAVE OR BACKUP:

I have one FULL Zip disk devoted strictly to downloaded executable files (such as Netscape) for quick installation if necessary.

My Quicken file(s) is over 4 Mb and, among other things, contains ALL my stock transactions. I back up this 4+ Mb file every day to one of two Zip disks labeled "even" and "odd" for even and odd numbered days. Since this file is over 4 Mb, let's see...what is the most convenient media for a quick, reliable backup:

1. A bunch of floppy disks? I don't think so! (involves 5 different disks, extremely slow and, in my experience, not real reliable).

2. A CD-RW disk? I don't think so! (too big of a deal to fool with to back up a 4 Mb file and also slow)

3. A Zip disk in my SCSI Zip drive? Right on!...takes 2-3 seconds! Really...2-3 seconds to back up a 4+ Mb file!

How long would that have taken back in the mid-1980's with a 360 Kb floppy disk? Oh, I forgot, Iomega sells "obsolete" technology per Dan Dorfman (the spit monster) on CNBC back in 1996. Being a country boy and not very astute like some of the posters here, I guess I'll just have to settle for Iomega's "obsolete" technology....I don't know any better.

I've never had a Zip drive or Zip disk failure since April of 1996, so I think I'll keep them! :-)

Dave

p.s. I also have an external 1 Gb Jaz drive and back up my entire 1 Gb "C" and "D" hard drive partitions regularly using Drive Image by Powerquest...takes about an hour for each partition. FWIW, I've never had a Jaz drive or disk failure either since September of 1996.
