Compaq unable to fill all home PC orders - WSJ
NEW YORK, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ - news) is warning retailers that it is unable to fill all orders for its home computers, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The move by the world's largest personal-computer maker is another sign of the component shortages hitting PC makers due to the recent earthquake in Taiwan, a major manufavturing centre for PC components, the paper said.
A spokesman for Compaq told the Journal that the company expects ``spot delays of shipments' on some products headed for retail outlets, and the delays could last into November. The spokesman declined to specify the number of products or models affected, the paper said.
The warning comes shortly after Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HWP - news) said it expected delays and disruptions in its PC business from the Taiwan earthquake.
The Compaq spokesman said the shipment delays will not have a ``material impact' on its operations, the Journal reported. ----------- End of article -----------
I believe nobody on this thread knows what the ripple impact will be on CUBE, if any, because if tomorrow a buyer of CUBE chips delays their order(s) for CUBE chips, then it may, or may not impact, CUBE earnings per share - will the CUBE customer order more or less the rest of the quarter - if there is a delayed order, is the order sizable, etc., etc. |
