TWIN GOLD receives DIAMOND ANALYSIS on TORNGAT 1 dyke
TORONTO, Oct. 14 /CNW/ - Twin Gold Corporation (TSE: TWG) is pleased to announce the diamond counts from caustic fusion analysis of grab samples taken from Twin Gold's TORNGAT 1 kimberlite dyke on the Alluviaq Fjord, Ungava Bay, northern Quebec. The sample analysis, including the microdiamond extraction, selection, and description was performed by the Mineralogical Services of Lakefield Research Limited and yielded the following results:
<< --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample ID Weight/kg Number of Diamonds --------------------------------------------------------------------- AD 01 132.89 36 --------------------------------------------------------------------- AD 02 39.61 62 --------------------------------------------------------------------- AD 03 17.20 3 --------------------------------------------------------------------- AD 04 16.10 8 --------------------------------------------------------------------- AD 08 6.39 3 --------------------------------------------------------------------- TOTAL 212.19 (468 lbs.) 112 --------------------------------------------------------------------- >>
The results of additional kimberlite samples from TORNGAT 1 and TORNGAT 2 / 3 dykes, which are in the process of being analyzed, will be reported as soon as they become available. Of the 112 diamonds thirteen (13) are macrodiamonds with the largest diamond measuring 1.65 mm. A macrodiamond is defined as exceeding 0.5 mm in at least one dimension. Dr. Bruce Jago of Lakefield Research said: ''The high proportion of white and transparent stones compares very favourably with microdiamond populations elsewhere in Canada.'' These results are in addition to the previously reported 26 diamonds recovered from a 10.864 kg sample from TORNGAT dyke number 2 / 3. Twin Gold in addition to exploring the diamond prospect on the east side of the Ungava Bay in Northern Quebec is also an emerging producer of a low cost gold mining project of 1 million ounces of gold and 3.2 million ounces of silver reserves in Idaho, U.S.A.
