I plan on adding some more here, but let me raise a worry that I raised way back. Flash-memories are so big, will we need many of them since they are likely to be used for transient purposes?

Photo-application is good, but they are only needed until download to another medium. Most people only need a couple of cards - perhaps more for vacations.

MP3 was unknown when I last posted my concern. It's great. Like tapes, people are likely to build libraries. I hope, though, that people don't get organized and keep their library on harddisk, downloading to flash before jogging or road-trips etc.

As a pilot, I am very aware that GPS map units are a good application. The information they require is refreshed on a 90-day cycle. Flash-cards are a wonderful solution. Aviation GPS are, however, a small market.

Finally, and this is why I am posting to you, Limtex, mobile phones: why do they need lots of memory? Stock quotes and email do not use much space, and they could be refreshed quite simply. I am sure there are plans to provide maps in phones, but those maps will not need to be updated frequently. What are the phone-applications that require a lot of space?

Having asked that, I must free my line to call my broker.
