Bux,

Do you think that another vendor we are unaware of (or even those we are aware of) which might have, or be ready to trial, a new product might have
a shot?

Not a chance worth considering. GTE has already announced they will be using 3Com's equipment in their CDMA data service to be launched this
fall. Do you actually think GTE would hold back the release of their CDMA data network while some other manufacturer tested equipment designed
to do the same thing?

Hmmmm, Well I think our posts are getting a little out of context here. This post you're referencing was made prior to Mang's information that GTE was using IWF. I would not expect GTE to delay their deployment and I wasn't implying that...again the context is a little out of whack here. That all being said carriers, as a matter of good business sense, always seek second sources and often run parallel netowrks with mutiple vendors. Of course you already new this. So I would expect GTE and others deploying IWF or not to use equipment from other vendors as it becomes available.
