Tench, re: Athlon needing 512K L2. True, according to the 4:1 rule, the Athlon should have 4 x 128K or 512K for the L2. But remember the L1 is 64K instruction and 64K data. A more flexible 256K may be almost as good as a 256K + 256K L2.

BTW, according to one of the CuMine benchmarks out there, the CuMine is still just 32K L1.
