Some more interesting info: If anyone here objects to me posting from Yahoo, please let me know. I just know that most don't have the time to sort through hundreds of posts a day to get to the meat , and when I see something worthwhile, I feel like sharing!!(must be my girl scout background!!)

Clinic Interview, Part 1
by: bigmike604 (56/M/Green Bay, WI) 17763 of 17768
This is my third call in 3 months to the local eye clinic. In summary, this past month they did about 100 lasik procedures and 8 intacs. Two doctors are doing both intacs and lasik. One doctor has been doing intacs for 3 months and the other for one month. Right now with no advertising about 8 percent of their patients qualify for intacs. BUT HERE'S THE KEY POINT, 100 PERCENT OF PATIENTS WHO QUALIFY FOR INTACS ARE CHOOSING INTACS OVER LASIK. They are going to start advertising lasik and intacs next month. Most patients who come to see them now need higher correction than intacs can provide. But many patients who qualify for intacts, when made aware of them, are interested in getting them. They pick this up by word of mouth. The Keravision rep visited the clinic last week. He said they were going slower on training doctors as the quality of vision is the marketing edge they have over lasik. So they don't want to screw that up with horror stories of procedures gone wrong. Expect 500 or less doctors proctored this year. Also, they are having trouble making enough intacts. They need to open up a manufacturing facility. Apparently, the present facility was not designed for the current volume. More this evening.
