Peter, The Longport portable digital (LDS) scanner functions at 20MHz, capturing and reporducing images of soft tissue. The unit can produce images with axial resolution of 65 microns and lateral resolutions of 65 microns. This is all displayed in color on the screen of the laptop computer in real time. Since the digital scan is viewed in color, it shows the different types of tissue and density. The scanner is also a big plus for dermatologists and burn patients. I have been unable to find the specifics of the Sono equipment for comparison.
