Trying to digest this week's flurry of articles and posts about pricing, and still left quite confused.

Various sources quote prices in Europe and US as 1.37, 1.39, or 1.50/minute. Those numbers aren't too far apart, but what are they for/what's included in them? My guess is they are mobile "in-region" calls originated by a G* user using satellite mode. So, for any call within users national boundary is charged this flat rate, fully terminated. If so, they're close to/maybe a tad lower than rates we've been led to expect by Airtouch and GMPCS. But questions remain: How much will it cost to call to a G* user via and not via satellite? How is long distance handled? If you call MCI or ATT's 1-800 number from your G* phone do you get charged 1.50/min plus whatever the LD carrier charges for the call you want to make? What will be the rates for fixed phone users (should be at or less than 1.00/minute, on the same basis as above IMO, but when will we know?) And what about roaming? One article hinted at 3.00/minute, but again it wasn't clear what LD is included in that.

If I recall correctly, the European SPs have to publish tariffs before they start service, so we should have their approach to all this pretty soon.
