Never heard of Spencer's. If it's like Kaybee's then there is no comparison to Zany Brainy. Our local Zany is 1/2 - 2/3 the size of local Toys R Us (I'm not real good at visually estimating size :-)) but again, the selection of products is not the same. If I was looking for Barbie's Dream HOuse or anything to do with licensed characters, I'd try Toys R Us first; if I wanted musical instruments or books or stuff to pretend cook, Zany Brainy. Yes, I wait for the sales on Brio or Thomas train stuff (now THAT's overpriced!) but boy is it popular. Zany uses sing-alongs and readings to attract kids and sell stuff and these also seem to be popular. I think Zany is successful in its niche and will find increased success once its web site is up.
