I think the fed is behind (way behind), consumers will continue to spend beyond their means going into Christmas (even beyond the wealth effect being dented a bit) and the interest rate on the long bond will peak early next year some time (a guess ~7.5%) -- however I don't think we will have runaway price inflation no matter what the fed does ... I think the economy as a whole is at a turning point (if you can call the next 3 - 5 months a turning point).

long term I don't know what will happen ... I just think a malaise of sorts is going to set in for a couple of years with falling consumer demand. I'll PM you soon -- gotta go home
