C3D Inc. Monday said new technology for its data-storage products can increase capacity by 2,500 times. The New York-based company, which has operations in California, Israel, Russia and the Ukraine, is looking to replace the current two-dimensional optical technologies now used in a wide range of devices, including DVD players. The new fluorescent multilayer optical data-storage technology would expand the memory capacity of disks and flash-data cards used in computers, consumer electronics and video products.
C3D, which has no sales, said it is in preliminary talks with several multinational companies, including Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp. concerning the use of its new technology.
