Re: I wouldn't be knocking on Coppermine's L2 cache...

Not knocking it at all - just noting that adding a high speed cache on chip to the K6-III caused major problems for AMD - and they are clearly doing everything they can to avoid having to add one to Athlon. And so far, so good. If Intel has no problems ramping the L2 on coppermine then congratulations to PB and the rest of the group doing that fine work.

PS I'm still not feeling too happy about Intel as an outfit. I asked the VAR I've got putting some systems together for me why MSI didn't have any info on the 6167 on their web site any more and was told the following:
He had called the MSI distributer asking for the usual ad sheets that they get from MSI to promote their motherboards. MSI's distributer replied that Intel had told MSI "if they sell too many Athlon motherboards, they won't get as many intel chipsets" (which are on allocation).

So MSI is basically trying to "not sell too many Athlon motherboards". They are selling plenty with no advertising, no mention on the web site, no marketing costs of any kind. They get great margins on the Athlon boards anyway, so why defy their orders from Intel to restrict sales?
