I agree it would be better for Veeco to do an all cash acquisition. The shareholder of Ion Tech, Inc. must want to participate in the future growth of the company, a reasonable desire.

It is unfortunate that Veeco's stock price is at low point at this time. It's likely that merger negotiations have been under way for some time and that the last weeks fall in price has not increased Veeco's cost. Of course, that's an optomist's scenario.

I still like the thinking behind the deal and believe that the street will too.
