big EV1/NiMH rollout in 4-5 weeks? wouldn't the NAEVI '99 conference & expo in atlanta be a logical place for this? naevi.org shows toyota/gm as co-sponsors, a GM Ovonic booth right at the main entrance in the floor plan, with saft & ovonic to appear in the same room on nov. 19, john adams of GMO to speak with the working title "Nickel Metal-Hydride Battery - Requirements for Commercial Viability". a re-christening here would also dovetail nicely with - atlanta as a nascent EV1 venue - stealing honda's december hybrid thunder - doing something with 500 stockpiled gen 2 cars many with 1999 VIN numbers getting stale before Y2K. - the reported 2 pack-a-day kittering activity, bringing the NiMH horde up to 400-500 by now. ovonic is certainly an exhibitor at EVS-16 in china right now, but i haven't heard any geekspeak from there yet...
