Imminent solution to board-problems (1999-10-13)
The share market's mistrust in Ericsson's board of
directors has become an acute problem to
Ericsson's owners. Ericsson might convert its A
shares into B shares next spring. This would mean
that Wallenberg's and Handelsbanken's influence
decrease from 40 percent each to 5 percent.
Ericsson is struggling with many problems, but the
board problem seems to be most pending.
Ericsson's share holders say that board members
are appointed to keep the power balance between
the two main owners instead of out of
consideration to their competence in the telecom
sector. The board seems to have been paralysed
lately and the CEO issue in Ericsson has still not
been solved.
