Phil, it appears you are right. Tobacco did contribute.

"The producer price index surged 1.1 percent overall and 0.8 percent at the core, which excludes volatile food and energy components"

"The PPI was skewed by an 8.4 percent surge in tobacco prices. Rising oil prices also contributed to the troublesome jump."

Largest PPI increase in 9 years.
