OT?...dclapp--

As you may have noticed the market took Unisys out and shot it yesterday. I heard Bob Pisani on CNBC yesterday say something to the effect that traders were aghast at the punishment it received, but there was a lot of comment on the floor? to the effect that the company may have trouble into the first quarter due to y2k...that this y2k thing is a real problem...as though this was some sort of epiphany...(Good Gawd! Are they really this stupid?...Did I really just ask that question?)

The more I think about this the more it unnerves me. They took a good growth company with real earnings out and shot it in what I think was an extreme overreaction given that they've mostly ignored first quarter y2k concerns until now.* Is this a clue???

I read most of the UIS earnings related spin-stories and didn't see any real guidance by the company re: Q1 or any mention of y2k. All day yesterday the CNBC talking heads kept mentioning UIS and y2k but I couldn't figure out where that was coming from until Pisani appeared after market close. So I guess they're starting to read between the lines???

What do you think?

PM if you'd like so as to not clutter the thread.

*Cripes! If they want to shoot a company over y2k, shoot freakin' Microsoft!
