Metromedia Fiber files debt, equity shelf
WASHINGTON, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Metromedia Fiber Network Inc. filed on Friday to sell from time to time up to $2.25 billion in debt securities, preferred stock, Class A common stock and warrants.

It filed to offer more than 21.5 million Class A common shares that may be sold by selling stockholders.

Net proceeds will be used for the development, installation, lease or improvement of the company's telecommunications assets, and for general corporate purposes, Metromedia, based in White Plains, N.Y., said in a shelf registration filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company said it will not receive any of the proceeds from the sale of the Class A shares held by the stockholders.
