Mr. John Rucci reports
United Tex-Sol Mines and Kinross Gold Corporation have received assay
results from the drill program at the Clavos gold property in Timmins, Ont.
Drill holes KC-99-126, 131, 132, and 133 were targeted to intersect the HW
and FW zones east of the Discovery zone. Hole KC-99-133 was spotted to test
the down plunge extension and KC-99-132, 120 metres to the east of the
previously announced hole KC-99-131 (94.64 grams per tonne across 9.6
metres). In KC-99-133 gold values were generally low, however the hole
intersected significant quartz veining and alteration associated with 1 per
cent to 3 per cent pyrite, typical of the HW zone located in hole
KC-99-131. Hole KC-99-132 encountered several good assay values, including
17.78 g/t over 2.3 metres from the HW zone.
Drill holes KC-99-127 to KC-99-130 were targeted to intersect gold
mineralization to the east of the main concentration of past and present
drilling at the 9 + 60 East zone. The holes targeted extensions of the HW
and FW zones along strike and down plunge. These holes failed to locate any
significant mineralization in the HW and FW zones but were successful in
intersecting the Sediment zone.
As previously announced, the 960 zone has a drilled strike length of
approximately 300 metres which yielded significant gold intersections,
along with a small inferred resource. All four new holes intersected the
zone with significant gold mineralization. While more work is warranted,
none is planned at this time to extend the 960 zone. As of today's date the
corporation has added another drill rig and completed 10,250 metres of a
20,000-metre drill program. At the present time the drilling program
continues with two rigs working in the vicinity of hole KC-99-131 and one
drill completing down plunge delineation west of 2 + 70.
