AVCAN signs Collaborative Agreement with the
Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans

John J. Sutherland, President and C.E.O., reports:

ASC AVCAN Systems Corporation has recently signed a Collaborative Agreement with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Canadian Hydrographic Service. The ?Coastal and Environmental Remote Sensing Project? has the potential to contribute significantly to coastal and oceanographic science.

The Project will be carried out at Department of Fisheries and Oceans Institute of Ocean Sciences at Sidney, BC. AVCAN?s data acquisition will be applied to:

 determine high and low water shoreline, potentially increasing survey efficiency
 provide a permanent digital visual image of the coastline
 determine the location, area extent and nature of key fish habitats
 observe and evaluation ocean turbulence by optical and infrared methods.

The first phase of this collaboration, valued at $175,000, will demonstrate AVCAN?s technical effectiveness and facilitate enhanced coastal research.
