My "guess" is that a preliminary version of WIndows 2000 - or a proprietary EXTENSION to Windows NT 4.0 - was used to make the "estimates"." A recent article showed Win2000 to scale much better than WinNT4.0, especially going from 4 to 8 way. It actually showed a greater than 100% improvement going from 4-way NT4.0 to 8-way Win2000 on profusion. Wish I still had a link... EP
