AVI shorts -- You folks sure have a ****-on for BD. I used to also but switch to AVI when BD burped about a year ago. (Looks like I should have moved to thrify!) Anyway -- AVI taking a dump lately -- thought I'd report here for those interested -- if any. I just talked with IR. The company's position is that earnings come out on the 20th and they are comfortable with the estimates. They think that the reason for the recent price drop may be an article/newsletter (?) recently published which caters to short sellers which was negative and encouraged short selling. Avis says the article was in error and there is no bad news on the horizon. AS I posted earlier -- when I chatted with IR a month ago, I was told they are comfortable with Q3, Q4 and year 2000 estimates. Sounds like that has not changed. Good luck to all.
