MUST reading today -- lead front page story in Wall St. Journal re inventor Lemelson. He has received $500 million in royalties after years of struggling with infringers large and small, domestic & foreign, Freeny is quoted in the article and Refac is cited as a successful company in the field of prosecuting patent infringers. As you all know, GIFT lead counsel David Fink worked for Refac and learned the fine points of major infringement litigation there. In fact, Fink was in Texas last week on behalf of GIFT as four defendant lawyers deposed Freeny. Wait till their clients get the legal bills! GIFT proceeds inexorably towards the key Markman hearing, next big step (after discovery) in the trial process. The Journal piece reminds us that the process is arduous, but the rewards can be worth the wait.
