I stand corrected regarding the history. Although (I probably should look it up) didn't governmental fiat money printing cause the South Sea bubble?

My theory regarding the Fed is that first the big money created the crash and run on banks, then stepped in to "bail them out" by the goodness of their hearts. The Fed was born. Then the federal income tax so that the government would have the means to repay debt. Then a good excuse to borrow... how about a world war. Now big money owns the country. I know, it sounds a little paranoid and conspiracy theory-ish <g>, but then I am a growing rather cynical in my old age (44).

Have a good weekend.

Matt
