That's a sufficiently bad scenario. I don't know what to make of the strength in the stock. I simply don't get that stock at all. Seems to me like Samsung is sending pretty negative messages. I never followed closely enough their (or anyone's) projections for market penetration but it seems to me like their most recent projections from yesterday or the day before have been lowered.

By 2002, Rambus will control about a third of the memory market, predicts Avo Kanadjian, senior vice president of memory marketing at Samsung Semiconductor Inc., San Jose. He sees the other two-thirds split between DDR and PC100/PC133 SDRAM.

To me that would be an ominous sign (if the new projections were significantly lower). I'll have to do a search for their earlier projections this weekend.

I'm wondering why none of the memory companies foresaw this problem during the evaluation stage?
