Alcatel Supplies Its New Switching Generation To Telecom Developpement With Its New Switching Generation

GENEVA, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcatel today announced that it has
supplied Telecom Developpement, the subsidiary of Cegetel and SNCF and the
second long-distance operator in France, its new Alcatel 1000 switching system
based on an ATM platform.
The switching solution represents the latest in technology and is
upgradable to host up to 16,000 E1 trunks. The system will help Telecom
Developpement meet the fast-growing demand of their long-distance customers.
With this supply contract, Alcatel reinforces its position as Telecom
Developpement's main partner for the deployment of its network. Since 1997,
Alcatel has been providing Telecom Developpement telecommunications equipment
and solutions for its long-distance network. These include switching systems,
Intelligent Network solutions (amongst others authentication services, free
phone service) and transmission systems.
