God , that must be the first little speech they teach all their little "clones" over there on GENG road in PaloAlto. You wouldn't believe how many times I heard this from them. What BS , and possibly one of the bigger scams in the E dot.com arena on the entire world wide net!
All Online brokers are the complete antithesis of "preservation of capital" if you plan to day-trade. Get your $$ out of Etrade as fast as you can, especially in this market! I made more $$ today, with my new acct opened at MyTrack.com, playing KIDE,CLRN,CYSV,WOMN, and a few others, that would have wound up losing on if i had tried to trade them with E-trash! No question about it, and made enough in one day with MyTrack, to pay for 2000 trades at Etrash.... which would have otherwise botched or mangled the trades themselves by server errors or pages failing to load, or untimely trade confirms & failures of realtime quotes.

Their (E-Tard's) Quotes have been delayed or completely wrong, their site is completely slow as molassas, pages failing to load, constant sporadic
server non-responses, slow trade -confirms, slow executions,inabilty to log-on... and for 3 days , could not cancel an order from the site 2 wks ago....and on & on & on....every day, every week.
***It is totally worth the the few extra dollars to get with MyTrack , MB Trading, the Executioner, CyberTrader, to trade with, just to name a few.These are professional sites and rarely if ever fail compared to E-trashes dismal record. They don't overtax their systems and keep extra server capacity to handle all over loads & heavy trading vol days, Just like Island and the other ecn's.
Etrade is a complete Joke: Like advertising for AOL on their website, while every Techie in their tech dept says using AOL combined with Etrade is a recipie for slow page loads, inability to log onto site, and complete and distressing failures constantly of the site to perform even modestly well. So what do they do, they Keep flying those banner ads for AOL on the home page, to lure the newbies in! It's about taking your money to make their profits (both) bottom- lines look good. But Who cares if they
don't function consistently and get too congested on an everyday basis, to perform even half-decently, or the new-bie trader loses $$
because of it.
The Bottom-line = Etrade is a raging rip-off! And never, i repeat "NEVER" expect them to get any better.... they won't... and don't! Because they have a too large customer-base for their server capacity;
too many things loading on to their site for you to navigate with any speed, and constantly having glitches....you can do your research just as easily from any of the other wonderful sites for that on the internet.
***A "stitch in time saves nine"! Dump E-trade as fast as you can ! It's nothing but a Midway-carnival-clown-show, that comes on to Newbies, to go "online", & in reality is a broken-down dog & pony show, with a lot of useless little frills and a whole lot of Bill boards and crap to slow things up. Give thanks to god if you can get out, as fast as you can!
