Fuchi;

I just came over from the AMD thread. Over there the renowned Victoria Gate posted a presumed summary of a Groves announcement of the dual bus P II. Is this the markets reaction to a new (and un-wanted) architecture. There are those that say; the customers and expecially Big Business don't want a new architecture. It would cost them too much to upgrade, from the now standard PC architecture. This seems reasonable to me. Before I retired, I worked for Lockheed Martin, who for Desk Top processors; first went with Macs with Sun Servers. Later because price/performance issues they converted to PCs. They really took a bath on the Old Macs but it was economical long term; because of the cost difference between New Macs versus New PCs.

Large companies that have experienced similar situations are really not interested in a new architecture. In many cases they have an In-House staff trained, oiled, etc. to maintain the Standard PC architecture on the Desk Top. Also, the replacement cost for the new P II dual bus architecture is expected to be greater than the replacement cost for the standard PC architecture; especially if it uses the new high performing M2 or K6 processors.

Well just some thoughts.

Good Investing!
