I called the Chief of the Tahltan First Nations Band and got their point of view. What I heard (in rather heated fashion) was the usual story of how they were years ago robbed of their land, status and wealth, and feel that they have a right to compensation and a right to know that the environment is being protected. Although, from a philosophical point of view, I sympathize with the band's arguments, the practical matter is that we cannot return to pristine pioneer conditions overnight, if at all. For those of us who have suffered through the trials and tribulations of WRM (not to mention paper losses) we need this like a hole in the head, in the year when the Golden Bear may actually pour some gold. Strange timing isn't it, that the native blockade comes right after the mining company they were aligned with lost the bid to another contractor. Obviously, there is a money issue here, as well as a philosophical one. Let's hope an injunction opens the road, and an adequate compromise can be reached, one that does not beat up WRM shareholders any worse than we have already been bashed. Regards.
