Thanks so much for the 200M DST by 2000 opinion. I temporarily forgot about the 81x line not selling until last 6 months! That and new telcom sales, plus Textronix agreement, and new push toward corporate backup usage, augurs well for a final up year in sales.
You said they make $ refurbishing the heads. Can you elaborate? I thought their web page says they've made it super easy for anyone to replace heads in only 1/2 hour, instead of a real techie having to make a house call. Also wonder just how much profit they tack onto their tapes. I remember a former post, by Gus I think, by CEO of Iomega, holding up their 100MB floppies and saying, "This is our annuity". I suspect tho that at 50GB to 330GB, they won't be selling millions of them as Iomega probably is. Thousands sure, but doubt if they'd even sell over 10K tapes in a year. How much profit can they make from that? Can't see it affecting bottom line that very much.
BTW, something nice to think about, only takes 3 DST 812's at $320K a pop to make a million. At 24M in past quarterly sales for past 2 years, doesn't take many 812 sales to make a nice bump up in Q revenues! |
