Joe,

No, that is not quite an 'equity' post. What I meant was I couldn't comment on the financial specifics of the new company. I can certianly comment (and have) on how I think the new company will benefit Novell's financial (and mindshare) position. This does affect the stock price, and I think you will see positive results from the efforts of this new company. I guess I just don't want to see the merits of this important move on Novell's part (a good one I believe) oversahdowed by percentages of ownership. This misses the point of the whole deal entirely.

The new company will be funded jointly by Novell and Netscape, so they both have some say in what happens. Ultimately, this is an independent company, so most of the direction will come from the yet as to be announced CEO. The new company will concentrate on doing what is best for the customers. I think that this is ultimately goodness.

I hope I responded to your post in a way that answers what I think was your question...

Take Care,

Jim Olsen
