MMW, I did not realize that LU sold its's stake in Juniper. is there a link to an announcement regarding that? How did CSCO cause LU to purchase Nexabit? Since LU and CSCO both need a play against JNPR your comment needs an explanation. I also know of numerous people that have left the old Bay Networks but the bfr team is intact. I believe it to be a real product, at least for now. Outside of the bfr, I am not sure if it was a great acquisition but since 60% of the new R&D budget is aimed at IP, I suspect that the 10 years of legacy IP code and product will come in handy.
