Hmmmm, my suspicion was right after all. Ascend was working on the BGP compatibility since late 1997 but never got to release GRF-II (in April 1998 Mory said that it was slated for release in mid 1999) since Lucent took over and directly ported the software to Nexabits Terabit router.
This is very interesting and significant when it comes to fruition.
But in the short term we have things like the Balance sheet to worry about.
