matt - RE: daytrading; i've done some reading of books from the first 20 years of the century (namely richard wyckoff - _stock market techniques_ (vol 1 and 2) and his book as rollo tape, along with humphrey o'neill), and 'daytrading' was happening a fair amount at that time as well..

of course, you had to be in nyc and near a ticker to do it, and your orders would (if everything went perfect) take 25 seconds to be filled, but on a relative pattern, it's all happened before.

that's why when i hear about the internets, i can look at the railroads, or the radio companies, or...
