I had a debate with a friend the other day re the market and I think I lost..I said look at the demographics and all those baby boomers socking away money for their retirement..
He said look at perception..if this time they don't buy on the dips..
it is a bear..I said look at investment..he said look at how many individuals are playing the market rather than investing in it..
Gold took off because of the european central bankers announcement..
why didn't it rise this past week as the market melted down?
obviously Greenspan knew what he was doing when he tried to talk down the market as the market was falling anyways..with options expiration and October being one of the more dangerous months for stock market
and tax selling for individuals following tax selling for mutual funds etc..
Lately I ask myself who really is in control..I basically have given up trying to find information in the Financial Times..their coverage of the British gold sales was enough for me to realize that paper
doesn't report the news..
Does anybody have a good news resource for covering what European CBers' motivations are?
