I'm not sure I understand all the hoopla here. All Bridge Player did was point out that voltaire's most recent predictions were incorrect. He also stated an opinion that it is impossible for anyone to make the kind of pinpoint predictions that voltaire does with any degree of accuracy. There are simply too many unknowns.
I enjoy reading Voltaire's commentaries and he is very often right in the stocks he suggests are worth investing in. On
the other hand, I pretty much dismiss his statements that "the market did a head fake this morning but the houses will
bring it back by 2:30pm" as being a bit of a reach (especially when it was absolutely NOT what eventually happened). This is not a singular episode. It happens often. I agree with Bridge Player that nobody can or should make those sorts of predictions as it makes all their other statements suspect.
When I once pointed out to Voltaire that one of his daily predictions was off, he blamed it on the unexpected words of an analyst.Well, isn't that the whole point. We just can't predict who will say what etc, therefore, we can't predict hourly fluctuations as Voltaire repeatedly tries to do.
What amazes me is how most of the folks on the board trash Bridge Player for just stating a fact. Did he get too personal, I don't really know. That doesn't diminish the accuracy of his statement.
Strange indeed on this porch.
