New IPO: Compaq Computer Corporation by: go_with_throttle_up (52/M/Houston, TX) 101026 of 101031 Now let me ask an INTELLIGENT question and see if we can generate some INTELLIGENT responses.
The scenario is as follows: Lets assume for a moment that a new IPO is announced and it looks like the following:
* Exchange: NYSE
* Symbol: CPQ
* Shares Offered: 1.7 Billion
* Price: $22.00
* Company Name: Compaq Computer Corporation
* Company Profile: Develops and markets hardware, software, solutions and services, including enterprise computing solutions, fault-tolerant business-critical solutions, desktop and portable products and consumers PCs. Company is the Number One PC Maker In The World, recently completed the acquisition of Digital Computer Corporation (DEC), recently sold a majority stake of AltaVista to CMGI , holds a 14% equity in CMGI…..and so forth!
* Financials: Zero Debt and 2.8 billion dollars cash
Now a couple of questions:
(1) What would be the Open Price? (2) What would be the Close Price? (3) How hot would this IPO be? (4) What type of messages would be generated on the Chat Boards? (5) Would people say that the company is going to go bankrupt? (x) And blah, blah, blah, blah.....
THINK ABOUT IT!
