Glenn - I think it is difficult to interpret Sept. retail sales as indicative of a trend. I'm no economist, but from what I have read, a lower increase (compared to August) was expected due to seasonal or monthly effects - and economists factored this into their forecasts. Yet the September numbers came in higher than the forecasts.

If anything, we are likely to see increases in growth of retail sales as we go into the holiday season. I believe that the trend is still up here. Everything I have read on retail sales recently has included statements that indicate that the recent fed hikes have not done anything to slow spending.

Have you read anything to indicate a reversal in the upward trend of retail sales?
Thanks,
-Eric
