Hi Mike and all other thread wise guys!-g-

I know about the "short against the box" loophole being closed, however, what if I'm long FRTE and short SUNW? Were the tax writers prescient enough to cover that specific situation?

Or, if an arbitrageur is long one stock and short another stock in a take-over situation, is he immediately liable for taxes when the take-over is consummated, or, is he liable at a later date when he closes out his positions?
