Wayne and other Handicapping Parkers <g>, Have you ever had a really good day at the track, or, in this case, simulcasting, that left you with an empty feeling in the pit of your stomach? I had that on Friday. I did real well, up a couple of hundred bucks with bets no higher than $8. Then there was a race where all the longshots came in. The Superfecta paid $14,000. One of the regulars walked back into the room carrying a bowl of soup, and I asked him if he'd seen that wild race? No, who won, he asked. I told him the numbers and the superfecta payoff. He pulled a ticket out of his pocket and, sure enough, he had the super. He was in a state of shock. Oh, well, at least he gave me his soup while he spent time at the IRS window. Good soup, but my belly still felt pretty hollow. <g> |
