Hi Del,

I've been following this prayer in school thing off and on, and I'm sort of betwixed and between because unfortunately, the non-believers seem to be making the better points.

Now this prayer in school thing bothers me a bit especially when I think back to being a child in school and having to recite the "Pledge of Allegiance" every morning before class started.

I'll bet for the better part of my childhood years in school I didn't have the faintest idea why we were saying that pledge every morning, but yet we did so, and it seems nobody seemed to think twice about it.

My round about point here is that I don't figure that most children would know what or why they were reciting prayers either if that were still the case.

This is an adult thing plain and simple. They (because I have no children) are somehow afraid that a prayer (which they either do not agree with or do not believe in) is going to somehow shape a child's thinking contrary to their own. You know, I sincerely doubt it.

This prayer thing to "believers" is simply one more way I see as a way of completely pushing religion out of our lives, and I think this is the gist of the issue here, the fear of not being able to practice one's beliefs anywhere.

It makes sense to me, especially if we were to compare the generations of the 40's, 50's, and 60's to those of the 70's, 80's and 90's and see how or why we seemed to have had less problems within the family unit then as opposed to now-a-days.
