As far as I know you reach the max speed at a higher speed with copper interconnects, at .18 or .13. So a copper .18 will be faster than an Al one, same for .13, so when a die tops out in Al you can extend it to a higher frequency with Cu. How far? some say 20-25%, some say less. From what I can read the coppermine will indeed be faster and better than the P-III, and can be considered as the last gasp of an extended P-III. The Athlon entered the ring faster than any Intel chip as well as being totally a new design and with ongoing developments has greater potential than the copperminus. Bill
