AJ--I have visited a number of the cathedrals in the US and Mexico and they are, precisely what turned me off about the Catholic church. In Mexico, especially, they were built by the money, not the people, of the people, most of them being peons who did not really have it to spare. Jesus did not have a specified building in which to teach and never said that any should ever be built. The cathedrals, of any denomination, are more for the pleasure of men than for God or Jesus. I also love animals, as did Francis but that's as far as it goes where he is concerned. Human beings do not have the calling or the right to proclaim any other human being a saint. That is a usurpation of God's will.
I do not intend to ever deny anyone the right to WORSHIP as they please, where they please but, will not rest comfortably with the Catholic denomination until they admit that they are not the only worthwhile denomination or church on the face of the earth. As if I could deny them anything. That is not within my rights either. I have a number of friends who choose to attend the Catholic church and they are very good and dedicated Christians. My only beef is with the hierarchy of the church who try to make out that they are above humans. TD |
