You may think there is a causal connection between violence and the removal of prayer from the schools- but one could just as easily correlate women working outside the home, single mothers and sunspot activity- all have a positive correlation with rising rates of violence in our youth.

But unless you change the Constitution you cannot establish religion in our public schools. However you slice it making kids pray or forcing them to be in a room with prayer is establishing religion. I do not believe Rambi is "afraid" of prayer- I certainly am not afraid of it. But I also do not support prayer in school. I would allow my children to visit any church with their friends (and they've been to Baptist, Presbyterian and Episcopal churches) but I would not want them to pray in school. It is not only about my children- it is in great part about the atmosphere in school. Religion is divisive- by nature and intentionally- as religions seek to delineate believer from non-believer (even among sects) It is possible to teach respect and values without religion. I have found it quite easy to tell my children how to treat other people with respect without introducing any religion into the equation.
